Eye Trend For Fall

Whether you're partial to a cat eye or colorful shadows, this season is all about the statement eye. Sharpen your pencils and dust off your brushes as we take a look at the best new looks from the fall 2012 runways.

The Modern Cat Eye

How To Wear It: Trace on liner using a fine-tipped makeup brush (the better for getting the perfect curve and flicked-up edge) and go for a gel formula with a high-gloss finish to catch the light.
- Harper Bazaar

If you don't have Gel eyeliner...[ Yes it is possible, If you're a make- up novice or have a limited budget or even can't do with Gel eyeliner]
Here a simple trick to Cat eyeliner or substitute for gel eyeliner.

You need: A Black eyeshadow and Eyeliner brush. Thats all.

Damp the bristles of brush and smear in the eyeshadow pot, enough to let the powder the bristles.
Line your eyes with the brush, and shape them according to your need. If you want slight gel eyeliner glossy look, aafter you damp your bristles smear light petroleum jelly on the brush.

Eyeliner using Colorbar Black tie eyeshadow.

Gel Eyeliner, I've used Maybelline Dramatic Gel eyeliner.

Hope you can notice the difference, It is a subtitute after all.
If you want soft defined eyes with less or not much drama, You can always play safe with Black Eyeshadow!
If you're used to Drama and eccentricity, Well I'm not stopping you. :P
I'd love to try it with Matte eyeshadow, you can try colored ones too.

Incase, You're wondering about the products used.

Personally I love using Eyeshadows as eyeliners.

P.S. I'm not claiming that I did Cat eye, this is how I generally wear eyeliner. *Grin*

$20/1000INR Makeup Challenge

I am not much of a Make-up Person, But yes I do love to sit in front of my dressing table and pretend I am doing Make-up. Hah!
I'm more of a Minimalist, I'd play with Eyes or Cheeks... I detest Dark, Waxy Lipsticks.
No Foundations too...( I'm having second thoughts here...)
I'd just put on some Kajal or winged eyeliner with a soft tinted lip balm for College.

For the Challenge I have used:

Lotus 3-in-1 Matte look - 325 INR ( I got it for 295 at Medplusbeauty)
Maybelline Colossal Kajal - 150 INR ( I got it for 135 at Medplusbeauty)
Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara - 200 INR
Maybelline Expert Eyeshadow in Seashore Frost. ( I've to use this up before 2013, I use it daily ;-) ) - 240 INR
Maybelline Lip color Bloom in Peach.- 99 INR

Total: 969 INR including Discounts :P

I've used Lotus 3-in-1 Matte look as Base.
For eyes, I've blended 1.Base ie Mint Colored Eyeshadow with the sponge applicator provided with quad  on the crease, avoided going overboard.
I blended 4.Liner ie Gunmetal green on the corners. Avoided going overboard too.
Tightlined my eyes using Colossal Kajal and lined my Lower lids too.
I've concealed Kajal using 4. Liner from the quad.
Single stroke of Mascara on my lashes and two swipes of Color Bloom on my lips.

Peach Bloom on my Lips

A Light Mint colored sweep on my Lids.

I'm scared of FOTDs, But I don't know how I have the heart to post them.

The Lips that lie...

My Current Obsession lies in: Nivea Fruity Shine Pink Guava.

♥ My Lips but Better ♥

Finding My Lips but better was like Finding Neverland. I am in ♥ all over again with my Obssession for Lipbalms. I have to admit, I catergorize my Lipbalms. My favourites change with season and my moods. Days when I want plain, shiny lips and others when I wear just a hint of color.
I am no Lipstick fan, especially the Dark ones. I Love sheer color and nudes. But with Tinted Lipbalms! Who needs Lipsticks anyways?

Coming to the point, I've found my MLLB, that too a Lipbalm.
Something I can wear all the time, with any eyemakeup or nude eyes.
Days when I'm a fuss and moody, Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara and Nivea Fruity Shine Pink Guava, is what all stay by my side.
I hate the feeling of having something on my lips, but with this I don't care.
This one makes my lips, irresistable to fold them together to feel it is there, right there giving all the love and color my lips need.
But Why I love this most is, This evens out my lip pigmentation on the upper lip. Can't you see? Even though with flash it is visible :-/
No, No I am not reviewing this, I'm sure already everybody has. I'm just overcoming my obsession I have for this pretty Pink Color.

Well you can check the pictures, won't you?

♥ ♥My Obsession on My Lips ♥ ♥

Apart from Lipbalm, One Thing that has Obsessed my mind is: Brighter than Sunshine by Aqualung.OST from ♥ A Lot like Love ♥

♥ Idée Fixe ♥

Yeah, yeah! I'm hopping onto names and keep changing my blog address and look: I'm unruly and confused.

I started with a Beauty blog concentrating more on Product reviews and bam! I have no time to put a product to test and analyse every detail about it, I mean I'm into testing them but analysing from every aspect, not my niché.
Anyway, who reads them?

I cannot manage with my PG and two other (Poetry/Creative writing) blogs. Though I've made my mind to keep this space, at least use it for Photography, Hauls, Giveaways, D-I-Y and maybe I'll do some OOTDs, FOTD's and EOTDs  and to share my OBSESSIONS. But I will be up with a Review/ Swatch or Post without any of the mentioned above, with a Theme post on Newbie Beauty Blogger Network. Maybe someday I'll be Obsessed with this space too. I've to take care of  few things now, right away!

Btw I've switched to Idée Fixe for one general reason:
My Obsession for things, for a song or a color.
And and and...Idée Fixe  is pronounced as [ee day feeks] No, I'm not getting into phonetics now.

Here's a sneak peek of The Obsessionist.

NBBN Theme Post: RED

I am more of a Pink person. But that Red Pout makes me have those second thoughts.
When I was a li'l girl, My first were A Red Lipstick & a Nail paint.
Birthday gift from Mom at 10. [ I don't want to tell you, How much I cried for them]
I loved that color red on my feet, we weren't allowed painted nails in school so, I would paint my feet and dance with that red nail paint on my feet. Now 9 of 10 times, I settle on red, sort of a comfort colour. But Boy! Let me tell you, I never got that pretty red shade, again. The prettiest shade of red I will ever see?

Red nail paint is every girl's must have.

And I love Anne's red pout in The Devil wears Prada

My Monsoon Skincare Regime

I like it when my skin is Tan-free and acquires Radiant Glow in Monsoons. My skin feels sorta unbalanced, but I keep my spirits alive to keep that glow for long.
My Normal skin acts weirdly!
It phases from Normal to Oily and bounce back to Oily T-zone, Yes because of the extreme humidity in Mumbai's weather.
And the phase I detest: Break out phase.
There's when
I loose all my hopes for The Radiant Glow. [Yeah, It's like a pageant to me =D ]
Walks in...or I drag Himalaya Neem Foaming Face wash.
Also Lotus Claywhite.
apart from Neem Scrub [Homemade].
And Aromamagic Under eye gel to counter puffiness.
And Yes, I don't skip Sunblock!

Mane issues:
Ends turn super DRY.
I oil my Hair [ Almond Oil + Vit.E ] and Deep condition them with Oriflame Coconut Mask.
And nothing else. :-/

Also I make sure, I don't get drenched in rain often. =D
Achoo!

Have a safe and Happy Monsoon =)

The Current favourites...

I am not an Everyday makeup person, but I am certainly a fan of No-makeup-look.
I keep it minimal, except for my moody makeup days, when I'd even step out sporting smokey-eyed look or I'd just simply wear my geeky glasses, and just blush.
When I'm blue, at least I like to cover that up with makeup.( I don't actually mean Blue.) That really makes me feel good.

1. Lotus 3-in-1 Matte Daily Glow Sunblock with SPF 40
This Sunblock is my Oh-so-Love-at-first-application, why didn't I get this sooner? I cannot imagine If a sunblock could get any better than this. I know THIS one product is HG of so many other girls/ladies out there.

2. Maybelline Clear Glow Compact

I blot my face with a minimal layer of this compact, to cover imperfections. This compact really brightens my skin.I use it wet to cover acne redness. ;) And can I resist that pale pink packaging? NO

3. Nivea Vitamin Shake in Cranberry & Raspberry

I use this only when I need some tint on my Lips, it sort of gives me a soft pink wash of colour. I don't know how o_o

4. Nivea Hydro care

This is what I keep even in my shorts pockets, I need this to be with me 24x7. It travels with me to and fro with me, to my bed, to study and yes, This one likes resting under my pillow. :P

5. Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara

I do not step out without this!
It really Brightens up my face. Do I need to say more? =)

Thank you for reading! =)
XoXo

I'm loving this 5 products too much these days.
Do you love them too?

Fiama Di Wills Shower Gel: Blunder

This is not a review, It's an eye-opener 0_0

A year back or so, When this  was launched. I happily bought it. *Glitter Beads* attracted my senses, conquered them and then I had to get it. An okay-ish and not-so-attractive looking bottle.
Okay, The story starts here.

The first time, I used it. It was summer and it was nothing amazing. Fragrance is quiet strong for my liking it lingers for a while. The weird fragrance has put in a funny embarrassing situation, you see?

We were sitting in a crowd-less cafe, with just working staff around.
He has strong olfactory senses, I wasn't aware of.

*.* : Are you wearing men's perfume? Why are you smelling weird?
(Masculine I took )
*_* me: What? No! I don't know.

*Rolling-my-eyes*

I knew! I knew it!

Few days later I told him about it and we laughed like idiots. He agreed too, this legit smells like cologne or something.

My life couldn't be any funnier!

Maybelline Volum'Express Hyper Curl Mascara: Review

Maybelline Volum'Express Hyper Curl Mascara: Review

After I made up my mind to start wearing eye-makeup on daily basis, I reached out for a Mascara. It had had to be Maybelline, And so I bought newly launched Maybelline Volum’Express Hyper Curl Mascara.
This is my second Mascara, the first was Street Wear Clear Mascara, which was a waste!

PRICE: 200 INR
Quantity: 9.2 ml

I got this from Maybelline Counter in Thane.

What Maybelline says about Volum’Express Hyper Curl Mascara :

Why You’ll Love It:
  • Volumized + curled lashes for 18 hours!
  • With exclusive curl-lock formula.
  • Available in washable and waterproof variant

How to use:

Move brush upwards from root to tip to plump individual lashes and achieve dramatic volume. Continue applying to lashes until you reach your desired look. Do not let it dry between coats. Repeat for lower lash line

My take on Maybelline Volum’Express Hyper Curl Mascara:

This is one product, I don’t leave home without. This is the Wash proof version of Volum’Express Hyper curl Mascara. Just two coats gives my lashes Volume and Length.

It does not clump, even after 4 coats, I’ve never applied more coats than 4.

A Cute Black and Silver Packaging, and is easy to carry.

I wonder about the 18 hours longetivity, I never kept on for no longer than 8 hours.

I find Wash proof mascaras difficult to remove.
Olive oil did not work for me, but Vaseline Petroleum Jelly removed it completely.

After Monsoon, I will buy the Washable version of this product.

Only Black shade is available

My Experience:

I don't step out, without this product pridely enhanching my lashes.
The third time I wore, I noticed people looking into my eyes and not in a weird manner! ^_^

Overall Verdict:

I love this Mascara, It is perfect for Day Makeup. It really brightens the eyes, by adding Length and Volume and Density to Eyelashes.

But What I love the most is It does not clumps, even if you layer up.

It is definitely affordable.

This product stands up to all the claims that are made by the company. Even Availability is not an issue, is available at Maybelline Counters and Online.

Rating: 4.5/5

Will I repurchase: Yes, Washable version after Monsoon.

The Body Shop Bath Exfoliating Gloves

A day before yesterday, while crossing the The Body Shop counter. I realized with a jolt, I need those Gloves!

 I wanted Coral Pink :-/

I've used them once with Johnson's Baby top to toe wash.

I've used Poofs and Exfoliators made from Natural fibre (Coconut), They kind of scratch my skin. I've had many horrendous experiences with Body Exfoliators. The Vega Bath gloves were made of the material same as the Loofah, let alone exfoliation it did nothing more than tickling.

But Now I have, What I always needed! A Scrubby Gloves.

What I liked about The Body Shop Bath Exfoliating Gloves:

Excellent Exfoliation

Fits the palm perfectly! The Vega gloves did not fit and would move a lot.

Very little amount of Shower gel/Wash is needed.

These should be used twice or thrice a week and not everyday.

What I disliked about The Body Shop Bath Exfoliating Gloves:

Nothing, I want the Coral Pink coloured next!

I have Woollen Gloves exactly like these, People with sensitive skin or who crave smooth/soft skin can use woollen gloves for Daily exfoliation. I'm gonna try with Woolen gloves tomorrow. :D

I'm totally in LOVE with these! These make the bathing experience much more likeable.

Nivea Vitamin Shake Cranberry & Rasberry Lipbalm Review

Cranberry & Raspberry Vitamin Shake is a swirled, subtly tinted balm that leaves lips kissed with a hint of creamy, natural colour and an irresistible satin finish for a healthy glow.

About Nivea Vitamin Shake Cranberry & Rasberry Lipbalm

Do your lips need a healthy blend of nourishing vitamins and endless moisture that naturally enhances your lips' healthy glow? Cranberry and Raspberry Vitamin Shake is a creamy swirl of real cranberry and raspberry extracts, vitamins C & E and Pro-vitamin B5 for soft, kissably smooth lips and a hint of flattering, natural colour. This marbled stick of moisturising lip balm smells as delicious as a fruit smoothie. SPF 10 offers protection against damaging UVA and UVB rays.

Ingredients: Polisobutene, Ricinus Communis Seed oil, Octyldodecanol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Candelilla Cera, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter,

Cera Microcristallina, Isopropyl Palmitate, Synthetic Wax, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate,

Polyglycerol-3 Diisostearate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Persea Gratissima Oil, Prunus Amygdalus, Dulcis Oil, Rudus Idaeus Juice, Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit Juice, Panthenol, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Lecithin, Aqua, Glycerin, Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone, BHT, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Oleate, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Aroma, CI 77891, CI 15850, CI 45380.

My view on Nivea Vitamin Shake Cranberry & Rasberry Lipbalm:

Vitamin Shake is a swirled, subtly tinted balm that leaves lips kissed with a hint of creamy, natural pink and an irresistible satin finish for a healthy glow.
I liked the concept of Swirl, looks irresistable! but does not smell the same.
    It is mildly scented.
Natural Pinkish tint, which is very subtle. Pigmented Lipped won't like this.It looks whitish or like nude Lipstick on them.Especially on my upper lip, which is pigmented.I use it when I play with my eyes, for day time.
SPF 10 with Protection against UVA & UVB rays.
    Contain Vitamin C & E and Pro-vitamin b5.
Vit C is a lightening agent, and helps in Chapped lips conditions. Vit E is an antioxidant, This vitamin helps keep skin moisturized, a necessity for healthy lips, and it also protects the outer layers of your skin from ultraviolet rays, which can lead to damaged and cracking lips.Pro-Vit b5 is watersoluble vitamin, also known as Panthenol.
It is very Creamy, and moisturising, stays on for 2-3 hours at stretch.

Though the tint looks coral-ish in the picture, It looks Natural Pink on my Lips. I think this is the only Con, so far.

Shelf Life:
30 Months.

Price: 139 INR ( Discounted 108 INR)

P.S. I ordered this online, I ordered for Nivea Fruity Shine- Cherry but this was what I got.

Or else I would had never bought this, But this Lipbalm fulfills all the claims that are made by the brand.

Hair washing musings: Backward washing, No Shampooing and Co-washing.

Hair washing musings: Backward washing, No Shampooing and Co-washing.
Volume One: #Backward Washing
I have Oily Scalp and considerably morbid Dry ends. The search for my holy-grail shampoo or conditioner is never ending. In the course, I have been trying different brands but this time, I tricked my hair into backward washing.
I have tried Soap pod and Soap nut mixture for cleansing which works fine but I am a soft-feeling hair addict.
My trick to bouncy, happy and shiny hair: Backward Washing.
Backward Washing is technique where you condition your Hair first and then Shampoo.
I have very, very Fine hair!
Backward Washing helps my Hair achieve that body.
No matter what Brand you use, try Backward Washing once!

I am currently using Sunsilk Thick & Strong, Shampoo & Conditioner duo.
I like the Shampoo; it actually does make my Hair thick to touch. *.*
Plus the Pink coloured Bottle and Tube looks so chic! 0_*

#Beauty Tip
P.S. Tried Backward Washing today, to kill Monday Morning Blues :D
And Eureka! Made a Blogpost out of it.

A Shade gone wrong ~ Fixing Wrong Shade Foundation or Tinted Moisturizer

Have you ever bought a Liquid Foundation or a Tinted Moisturizer that mismatches you skin tone even after trying at the counter/store?

I have!
Always a shade or two darker.
I was desperate to try Biotique Tinted Moisturizer.
There were no testers available at Health and Glow store.
So I happily bought the Rose variant, assuming it has to do with the fragrance rather than the tint. It was much of a disappointment not to experiment. It wouldn't suit, even under Sun block or Foundation.

I tried setting it with an Ivory Compact/A shade lighter than your skin tone. It evened out and looked natural. Since the Tinted Moisturizer is a bit heavier on my normal skin, I like mattifying the dewiness with a compact. I do like the dewiness of this Tinted moisturizer though.
I top a layer of the compact dusting with Blusher brush on top of the Tinted moisturized skin. And Voila! It works fine.
How do you fix wrong shade errors?

A Beauty Miracle!

I am myopic and I use contacts daily for 8-10 hours. My eyes are allergic to dust and pollution; they swell up every morning. I have to spend time dunking my face in cold water to reduce the swelling. Some one or two years ago, my eyes caught infection which led to eyelash fall. There was a small gap, a mustard-sized gap on my right eyelash.
My Opth said eyelashes that fall due to infection, generally do not grow back. I was disheartened, I smeared Vaseline every night before going to bed, but it did not help. The gap was noticeable only if looked closely.

Two years have passed, I left the hope of it growing back. I used to dot that part with kajal or eyeliner. Last week, I googled again, and to my disappointment some websites mentioned the same.
"Fallen Eyelashes do not grow back"
I had tried Vaseline, Castor oil & Coconut oil. Nothing happened as I feared.

With my increased disappointment, along came my summer skincare. I have started using Evion Oil (Vit E oil cap) as night moisturizer. I thought why not smear some on my eyelashes too? To make them dense and thick?
It was just that one night, when I neatly smeared some Vit E oil on the lash less gap.

Almost a week later

My Summer Skincare Routine

The scorching summer makes my skin dull, dehydrated and dark, even with little sun exposure. I invest most of my time looking after my skin, especially during summer. I follow a simple routine on weekdays and try to stay indoors as much as possible.

Cleansing:
I am currently using Cetaphil cleanser for my morning routine.
I am also using a home-made cleanser thrice a week post cleansing.

Home-made cleanser: A cup of Oats flakes (powdered) and a half cup of Milk powder.
It is to be stored in airtight jar and avoid contact with water.

It cleans, exfoliates and nourishes. Lactic acid present in milk powder lightens and helps soothe sun damaged skin. Skin is squeaky clean without the stretchy feeling. Sometimes I drop few drops of Rose essential oil or fresh rose crushed petals.

Toner:
Himalaya Refreshing Skin Toner.

Moisturiser:
I love Johnson and Johnson’s baby lotion (the pink version), all year long. I let it absorb on my damp skin, locking the moisture. It hydrates without the greasy feeling.

Sun block/Sunscreen:

I currently have 5 Sun blocks.
1) Lotus Sun block SPF 30 Indian Summer Formula
2) Neutrogena Dry Touch Sun block SPF 50
3) VLCC Surya Sandal Sun block
4) Photoban
5) Lakme Sun expert SPF 34 lotion.

I often use Lotus Sun block SPF 30 Indian Summer Formula; it does not get absorb but leaves a transparent veil on face. It creates a barrier between skin and sun.
Neutrogena Dry Touch Sun block SPF 50 - If I am out during afternoon or carry it for touch up that I hardly do. I am lazy like that.

VLCC Surya Sandal Sun block - I did not like much, its oily so I use it on my body.

Photoban - Recommended by the Derma, I did not like it much; it is runny and very oily.

Lakme Sun expert
- I use it indoors as a moisturiser; It sinks in the skin which I find is weird trait for Sun block.

Tinted Moisturizer:
Biotique Red Sandalwood Tinted moisturiser SPF 30.
A few minutes after Sun block settles.

Lips:
Neutrogena Lip balm SPF 15, the best so far in terms of SPF.

My Skin care routine in the evening

I cleanse off my face and follow with a calamine to soothe sun burn, if any.

At Night:

I cleanse and tone my skin with the same products, I use in the morning except for the moisturizer. I apply Evion on the pigmented areas and leave it overnight.
I prefer slathering my lips with Biotique Morning nectar balm.

I scrub twice a week and use de-tan face mask post scrubbing.
I like using fresh Aloe vera gel sometimes as soothing gel post sun exposure.
Clay based facemask and post mask, I use cucumber or cider as toner.

Apart from the mentioned routine, I make sure I keep myself hydrated.
To beat the weather I love spritzing my face with Dabur Gulabari Rose water.

That’s much work, I like keeping my routine clean and simple.
