2021 Beauty Resolutions

I don't remember acquiring makeup in 2020, except for three beauty subscription boxes and Lisa Eldridge lipsticks. I wore makeup (only lipstick and mascara, if at all these count) to work till first half of March. I have been in two minds about purchasing Pat McGrath palettes; god knows how many times I've added them to cart and logged out; I no longer have the heart to purchase non-cruelty-free makeup. To sum up, no non-cruelty-free purchases were made in 2020.

I am assuming I don't have any non-cruelty-free products anymore (few lipsticks excluded). Also for all the skincare purchases I made this year, I selected brands that have adopted sustainable approach from manufacturing to packaging. So in terms of adhering to sustainable life choices, it was a good year.

I don't have any favourites, pan projects for 2020. Getting eight hours of sleep and working in PJs: What more can I ask for? The year 2020 was insipid if I may describe it in one word. Everything came to pass like clockwork: wakeup, work, nap, study, sleep. Creativity and I broke up; I am wondering if it is mutual 😂. I cannot recall doing anything exceptional this year; I had nothing happening to fill in my journal, absolutely nothing. My bullet journal for 2020 is blank. Down the line, I don't think I'll even have any good memory from 2020.

I'm trying to pull it together in 2021. Already started planning and setting goals for first half of 2021; I might as well just think of resolutions for the sake of "it".

A blogpost a month: I often run out of ideas for blogging, so I kept it that way for the year 2020; I have thesis to complete ("just done with one chapter"—I have been rattling off this statement throughout 2020), and it takes up all my time. I am planning to post anything, just about anything, as a blogpost here.

More skincare? I don't feel like posting things I dislike anymore; just not my thing. I will never take anybody's word before purchasing skincare. My skin has a mind of its own—lets not talk about abrupt seasonal and sleep changes. 😐 I am just going to try adding a little more discipline to my routine.

More makeup? I did little tidying up of my stuff last week, and I had no idea I had this new, unopened Tarte face primer. I need better ideas to store my stash, or I may need to better my eyesight. Such times make me feel I need to have better control over my definitions of "need" and "want", and that I am overdoing things all.the.time.

Swatches: Someday I am going to take everything out and swatch all my favourites and put up. I just don't know when that will be.

Writing it down: This is something I am just going to do it. I remember imagining eyemakeup inspired by "Ten of Cups", but when I tried attempting it few days later, I had forgotten all about it. I feel the need to jot down my ideas. I keep forgetting things.

I foresee myself focussing on skincare more than makeup (I really wonder if I will be wearing any). Also, I don't see any pan projects happening in 2021 either, but I do have my wishlist ready.😏

I will submit my thesis this year, and I will pretend I don't have stardust in my eyes! 😎 I hope 2021 turns out great for everyone!

2018 Beauty Resolutions

I have been feeling a shift lately.

From metaphysics to astrophysics; I want to read non-fiction something that I never do, well except for theories.

Speaking of the shift, I don't feel like wearing makeup anymore. I received all my December makeup purchases from Cultbeauty in the first week of January. And ever since, I am working on finishing up all the half-filled skincare bottles. I want to keep what really works, and I am switching back to being a minimalist. I experimented with layering skincare in the second half of 2017, and I am concluding that it does not work for me. So I already switched back to my simple skincare routine this time although with acids.
I should be working on a current skincare routine post soon.

I am restricting buying makeup for now, but I deserve a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick for Valentine's! So many of my liquid lipsticks are still sealed, and none of my pan makeup even has a slight dent in it. To add to it,  I don't even feel like doing a full glam makeup anymore (this shifting lack of enthusiasm scares me).

Here are four things that I am resolute to work on:

Skincare: When I am focussing on the academics, I ignore everything else, I can't sleep nor eat. And this starts affecting the under eyes and hydration. I am hopefully going to adhere to a minimal skincare routine to keep dehydration and dryness at bay. Exfoliating with acids because scrubs break me out, sensitivity!

Long hair and bangs: I look at my pictures from college days and 2015; I want to ignore the consequences and get bangs. I am growing my hair long and I don't know.

Red lipstick: I can wear soft wing eyeliner and red lipstick all my life without being bored is an overstatement, but red lipstick washes me out, with *no amount of bronzer ever will paint the paleness* kind of paleness. And then my face, neck and chest turn out in three different colours. Well, I'll just admit I look like a clown. w.h.a.t.e.v.e.r.

Painting my nails: I always paint my nails either red or mint, and if I am in a mood for something bright, I settle down on neon pink. Changing nail colours every five days is what I have in my mind at the moment. I need to experiment with other colours! I mean.

I've never been a great blog post planner; I will let 2018 amaze me!

My Beauty Blog Resolutions for 2016!

Looking Back

2015 was a remarkable year. I tried filling in some order in my absolute boring blog, makeup and skincare routine. I started off with few and easy things such as organising my vanity every weekend, experimenting with hair, advanced into adhering to a makeup removal routine and, most importantly, buying all cruelty-free (except for Chanel and MAC, damn I want Guerlain #260 Jardin De Bagatelle too).
My cruelty-free pledge still stands steadfast and unshaken. And as I was determined, I flipped the 90% non-cruelty-free makeup to 90% cruelty-free. I see this as a minor achievement. Besides, I accomplished all my personal resolutions for 2015.

My makeup, beauty and blog resolutions for 2016:

Blog more

I have no planned posts as of yet. But in 2016, I am going to experiment with makeup more—my favourite literary characters, celebrity inspired or somethings on similar lines things. I am going to lay down my basic routines and techniques and try something else, and there is a special-themed post I am planning to post every month. I will try my best to pour in more creativity here in 2016. I am experimenting with photography again, still need to master a few things.

Beauty journals

Growing up, I made scrapbooks by reusing my old notebooks and diaries. I would jot down or stick in tips and inspiring articles from magazines and newspapers. Somehow, deep down I could connect both—scrapbooking and bloggingthese things. So, maintaining a hand-written diary to list down my blog posts, routines and changes in my skin is my way to channel my plans. I did maintain one for 2015 which had my huge wish list and my skincare routines from the first half of 2015. I lost the journal, and the posts never went live even though I had saved them as drafts.

I am basic, minimal, essential kind of person when it comes to clothing. I am setting up my wardrobe, experimenting with colours and... SATC back-to-back for inspirations, oh! How I love Carrie and Mr Big. 😏

No Makeup Purchase for 2016

I over spent by letting myself free a bit too much. I am $20 away from attaining my Sephora VIB status. I misplaced my Hourglass Ambient Powders. I want to try swapping my favourite non-cruelty-free makeup with cruelty-free makeup. Finding cruelty-free equivalents for my favourites, sounds like an adventure!

Finding my contouring/bronzing essential

I was in two minds whether to get Anastasia Beverly Hills Original Contour Palette, but I read Kat Von D is better and blends seamlessly. I didn't wanted NYX contour palette. So I gave up and didn't bother to purchase any. I will keep looking, for that perfect mid-tone brown with slightly greyish undertone, till then I will mix and create with what I already have.

100 posts in 365 days

I am setting up my bar high. I blogged exclusively for the days I would need an escape from reality. Through 2015 things were changing and I sought solace in blogging. I attended events and met some non-beauty/makeup bloggers. Things have changed, I am assuming I'll get cold feet, like always!

More skincare than makeup

I am going to invest more in skincare than makeup. Recently, I attended an event bare faced with almost just sunblock. It is a big thing, especially when I don't step out without makeup. I escaped my seasonal acne cycle, I am in love with my skin right now. I'm assuming I am going back to my no-foundation phase. I no longer feel the need to conceal my imperfections.

Another year, definitely I am ending something or beginning something.
