Optimism, A secret to my Happiness

“Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.”
- Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden

Being a logophile, I always look for the origin of certain words that appeal to me. That definitely comes from studying the origin of English. Likewise, Optimism comes from a Latin word, optimus which means 'best'.
I am sharing few of my bests to have an optimistic view towards life and a dedication of gratitude towards a wonderful friend.

Smiling first thing in the morning.
You day really depends on how you wake up, rather what you do when you first open your eyes.
If you wake up cranky, you day will turn out a mess. Try smiling and being thankful that you woke up fine, sleeping is like being half dead, isn't it?

Making someone's day
Smile at a stranger, buy a flower from a street vendor, make someone laugh out loud, compliment someone or share or giveaway your lunch to someone who needs.
There are so many things that would make someone happy. Being kind ascends all these.

Gratitude and being Humble
My friend K always asks me to be humble, no matter how successful you grow. As humble as he is, I really look up to him.

Books for the company and Better Friends
Books are the greatest friends of all time. Indeed, the best time travelers as well. Imagine if you touch an old vintage book, once someone great has touched. So much of that person's greatness has radiated through the pages, passing onto everyone that touches it too.(being a bit surreal here)

Using Aromatherapy to radiate Positivity
Lavender really soothes your mind and soul, using it in oils or diffusers would help. A disturbed mind definitely attracts misunderstandings and imbalance.

Meditation is a great way to clear your mind, making a way for positivity. If one cannot find time for meditation, listening to instrumental music that calms the mind or concentrating on the breathing will have same the calming effect.

After all these doctrines, I would like to add a proverb we all grew up listening to: Charity begins at home. There is so much positivity and optimism if you look around including the random acts of kindness.
This post is dedicated to someone I really look up to. A Philosopher Friend, someone who warns like a brother and corrects me like a teacher. To someone with principles help me understand about life and everything else. Someone who has helped me learn pushing my limits, giving it all and taking the extreme way to achieve something you really wish for.
Someone who never loses hope, is indifferent but sensitive and who believes in creating his mere own happiness. Someone who is my source of Optimism.
He once told me, there is nothing like destiny, you are the creator of you own fate.
I am so glad I have a friend in you.
